The Memory of the Hands: The Fingerprint Collection
Twenty fingerprints of Nawar's hands had been put on his papers
the night before he entered the operating room for a microsurgery
in his palms. He promised himself that he would complete this col-
lection by drawing over them if Allah healed him. We can imagine
what an artist, who felt that his spirit lay in his hands, went through,
worrying about the failure of that spirit.
